Momi Buren
Based in the States and traveling primarily to East African countries I will lead and eventually teach/train people to use Trauma Healing Institutes (THI) material to address heart wounds. My main goal will be to build a comprehensive trauma program and a team. The program will be based on the THI's work and training I started last spring. This work was created from the American Bible Society, and Wycliff has helped to get it translated into over 180 languages. It is an excellent program, Biblically based, both culture and language are taken into account for the places that have been reached around the world. This program focuses on group work and individual work. Support will also be needed, so I will draw from my background training, further studies, and look for references to find the resources needed to meet the needs of the places API ventures into.
2025 I was able to start in South Sudan and led multiplehealing groups in CA and AZ.
2026 I will focus on getting the leadership of our API partners grounded in trauma healing and begin training to be able to have local leaders run trauma healing locally. I will also be working with a agency stateside that cares for refugees to support trauma healing in their work.
