During my service with IJM in Guatemala, I will work to seek biblical justice for the defenseless. Because Guatemala is considered to be one of the most dangerous countries in Latin America for women and young children (IJM research estimates that 1 in 4 Guatemalan girls are victims of sexual violence), my team will focus especially on protecting children from sexual violence. We will do this by assisting the local police forces, raising awareness of current issues in the government, seeking policy reform, criminal prosecution, and providing legal representation for victims. James 1:27a states: “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress.” Through serving with IJM, I will take up this charge and carry Christ’s hope into a place that is broken. I strongly believe that God has given me the passion to serve His kingdom in this capacity, but I cannot do this without your prayer and support. I would be so thankful if you would partner with me in this ministry!
