Zach Rasmusson
I have been called by God. Saved in the third grade, called not long after that. Called to what? That was a monumental question in my life too. Called to serve; behind the scenes, unnoticed—‘I would never be the guy preaching or leading.’ Praise God that His plans always ring louder than our own!
I’ve now been leading and preaching by the call and empowerment of God for 20 years. This lends to the beginning of Zach Rasmusson Ministries:
- DISCIPLESHIP
- MISSIONS
- WRITING/BLOGGING
This letter is to help you catch the vision and purpose of God in my life and ministry. I very much appreciate your time and especially your prayers. Let me briefly lay out the foundation of this new ministry.
DISCIPLESHIP — Disciple Maker and Ministry Coach
Missions always starts in our own town. We are commanded to ‘go.’ And our first stop is in our own homes. My outreach and writing will lend itself to equipping dads to lead their family in today’s society, specifically through church and biblical studies. We must combat the exodus from the church.
DISCIPLESHIP MINISTRY—Discipling men who have recently received Christ, Assisting men through or after divorce, Helping students find their way during or after high school. The list really goes on!
MINISTRY COACHING—With an emphasis on youth ministry, I’ll be coming along side pastors and ministry leaders. Life and ministry are both tough. I’ll be someone they can gain biblical, Spirit-led mentoring from in their times of difficulty or frustration. The goal is to help them to stay in a thriving ministry.
MISSIONS — Kingdom Builder and World Changer
My mindset from the beginning is, ‘we are the mission’—something I’ve learned from my pastor, it’s right on. From our own Jerusalem, taking the gospel to the ends of the earth, we will lead groups all over the globe. We are commanded to ‘go,’ we are changed when we do. Connect with me personally if you’re ever interested in going yourself!
I have opportunity to be the Regional Director of West Michigan Burn 24/7; ‘a global movement of people hosting the Presence of God through regular, unified gatherings of extended prayer and worship in cities and regions.’ I’ve also been talking to the chaplain of the local jail as well as continuing to minister as a lay leader in my own church to develop a community of people to change the world and build the Kingdom. I’m asking God for wisdom in each possible open door.
WRITING — Truth in grace, preached in power
One way I know we can do ‘greater things’ (John 14:12) is simply through the technologies we have today. Nothing can replace the Holy Spirit, but now we can reach so many more people with the message of the Gospel and the Power of His Spirit. I’ve never thought that preparing a sermon or a Bible study was ever a waste, but I always thought—why am I using this just once? Every message, every testimony, every effort should be expanded through the means of blogging. Not only does it reach more people, but it creates the monetary resource to continue to reach more people. I’ll always be writing through blog, bible study and sermon prep to seek to change the world one person at a time with the gospel message of Jesus Christ. All this, with a future goal of getting published.
