To introduce what I have done and what I am currently doing/wanting to do in the future I'll start with what I have done in missions. The program that I did was a discipleship training school. This school runs for six months and is filled with learning how to serve others based on the Bible and practicing these skills in many ways in the local communities around the school and overseas. I did my first mission work in Cambodia. I got to serve the amazing people of Cambodia the Khmer. It was an incredible experience, and we got to see about 30 salvations during my team's short time in the country. Seeing how God can move through things like playing soccer or volleyball with kids, teaching English, and asking people if they know Jesus was amazing. It truly was an amazing experience for me to grow and see how beautiful the love of God is for all His people.
I am working full-time in the city of Lynden with the missions base where I did my first missions program and it has been an incredible journey to learn what it is like to start leading and how to lead well in this sphere of missions. I get so many amazing opportunities to serve in the community here in Lynden, while I am not serving in the nations around the world leading others on short-term missions. There are always new opportunities coming up to serve in the local area. Still, some of my favorites would be working with Lighthouse Mission and helping with another ministry called Jesus Taxi. Lighthouse Mission is a homeless shelter that provides opportunities for those on the streets to rebuild their lives and break out of addictions so that they can stand on their own two feet and not need to have their hand held in life or worse have their life continually falling apart on the street. Another thing I love that Lighthouse does is it holds funeral services for those who die on the street and would never be remembered by the community without this being done to remember their names. With Jesus Taxi is a ministry that helps provide simple services to what they call "neighbors in need" so whether this is helping the elderly with simple yard work or picking up necessities of life for a woman who is in need after getting out of an abusive situation, Jesus taxi shows up to help out with these sorts of things in people's live in the local community.
